Boulder police are searching for a man who they say robbed a woman at gunpoint outside the North Boulder Recreation Center earlier this week.

According to a news release, the woman was walking toward her car at 8:56 p.m. Monday after using the recreation center at 3170 Broadway. The woman told police that as she was opening her car’s door, she heard footsteps and turned around and saw a man with a semi-automatic handgun running toward her.

The woman screamed as the suspect grabbed at her purse, causing the woman to fall on the ground on top of the purse. She told police the suspect then grabbed her hair, slammed her head on the pavement and took her purse before getting into a car and leaving the scene.
