Christopher Kuhn of Hamilton was arrested in October in Bucks County, Pa.

A Hamilton man who was charged last month with the death of his 2-year-old son in a car crash is now also facing drug-related charges, NBC 10 reported.

Christopher Kuhn, 27, of Hamilton sped away from a Walmart parking lot in lower Bucks County, Pa. on Oct. 3, police said. With his son in tow, Kuhn had allegedly just shoplifted a $228 Vizio sound bar from the store, and was fleeing the possibility of arrest.

Down the street from the store, Kuhn ran a red light and collided with another vehicle.

Kuhn’s 2-year-old son, whom Kuhn had limited visitation rights with, was not strapped into a car seat when the collision happened, authorities said, and was ejected from the vehicle.

Kuhn allegedly exited his vehicle – paused to look at his mortally wounded son on the ground – and fled to nearby woods, witnesses told police.

The child was pronounced dead from his injuries.

At a Bucks County court appearance Tuesday, NBC 10 reported, prosecutors discussed a newly-released toxicology report that showed Kuhn was under the influence of oxycodone and marijuana during the incident. Prosecutors are adding driving while intoxicated charges to Kuhn’s case as well, the report said.

Kuhn remains in the Bucks County Prison on $5 million cash bail.
