TAYLORSVILLE — A 15-year-old boy was charged Tuesday with participating in a series of armed convenience store robberies over the summer with a group of other teens.

Mario Segura, of Salt Lake City, was charged as an adult in 3rd District Court with four counts of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony.

Segura is accused of being part of a group of three teens who committed a series of convenience store robberies in mid-July, according to prosecutors.

The string of robberies began July 16 and included 7-Eleven, 2287 E. 3300 South; 7-Eleven, 6852 S. State; 7-Eleven, 2471 S. 7200 West; and Maverik, 1707 S. 300 West, early on the morning of July 17. In each case, the store clerk was threatened with a gun while money and cigarettes were stolen, according to police.

Segura was arrested following the fourth robbery when the clerk managed to knock the gun away from one of the boys, grabbed Segura, and held on to him until officers arrived.

As of Tuesday, police had not arrested the other two teens.
