A letter writer manages the clever trick of blaming the shortage of workers to rebuild after recent wildfires on President Obama.

How did he manage this amazing stunt? First, he says the welfare state boomed during the Obama years, without mentioning that millions of jobs were lost in the months leading up to Obama’s inauguration. This could explain the boom in welfare recipients. How is the loss of jobs before he took office Obama’s fault?

Then he says HUGE numbers of workers have removed themselves from the workforce — no statistics, but boomers are retiring in record numbers. Clinton instituted work requirements for welfare, and Bush ignored them, but hey, blame Obama. Over 12 million jobs were added to the economy from 2010 to 2016, and after years of job growth, California’s unemployment rate is 4.2 percent. But because there are fewer workers to rebuild California, let’s blame Obama. Really?
