After winning 3-0 in the first-leg at Anfield last week, Jurgen Klopp’s side travelled to the Etihad Stadium and secured a memorable 2-1 victory last night.
Gabriel Jesus had given City hope with a goal after two minutes, but Liverpool strikers Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino scored in the second-half to send the travelling fans wild.
Salah scored his 39th goal of the season and with a striker in such hot form, Liverpool won’t fear anyone in the Champions League semi-finals.
Speaking after the victory at the Etihad, Klopp praised his side’s performance over the two legs. He told the BBC: “We scored five against Man City and only conceded one. These numbers are usually not possible.
“The boys found a solution in the second half. We had two or three opportunities in the first half already, so it was easy for me and the boys to see the development of the game. We had come through the whirlwind.”
