Washington Capitals defenceman Michal Kempny has been fined $2,419.35 for cross-checking Tampa Bay Lightning forward Cedric Paquette.

Washington’s Michal Kempny fined $2,419.35, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for cross-checking Tampa Bay’s Cedric Paquette.

Kempny cross-checked Paquette at 6:55 of the third period and received a minor penalty for his actions.

Paquette wasn’t hurt on the play, and actually blew a kiss towards the Capitals bench on his way off the ice.

The money will go to the players’ emergency fund.
