There may not be crying in baseball, but hugs are definitely allowed.
This moment between high school best-friends-turned-opponents will melt your heart.
This is why we love sports. Instead of celebrating with his teammates, a high school pitcher consoled his friend after striking him out to head to the State Championship (via @b757fo_jim) pic.twitter.com/mvjd9L79DB

What a cool moment.
Ty Koehn from Mounds View High School is the pitcher, striking out his best friend Jack Kocon of Totino-Grace High School to clinch a spot in the Minnesota State Championship.
“We are very close friends,” Koehn told Bring Me the News.com. “I knew him from all the way back when we were 13. We were on the same little league team. It was tough when we went to separate schools but we kept in touch.
“I knew the game was going to keep going or it was going to end right there,” Koehn added. “I knew I had to say something. Our friendship is more important than just the silly outcome of a game. I had to make sure he knew that before we celebrated. It was more instinct, it just felt right.”
Mounds View coach Mark Downey said he wasn’t surprised by Koehn’s actions.
“Ty’s actions the other night do not surprise me and are reflective of what I might expect from any one of the players on the team,” Downey said in an email to BringMeTheNews.com. “All really great kids, just a joy to be around on a daily basis.”
With Mounds View now chasing a State title, we’re pretty sure Kocon will be cheering on his best friend the whole way.
