Republican Rep. Steve King is under fire after quoting a tweet from a British neo-Nazi, marking yet another instance in which the Iowa congressman has sparked outrage over his social media habits.

King on Tuesday quoted an anti-immigrant tweet from Mark Collett, a far-right activist in Britain, and added the comment, “Europe is waking up… Will America… in time?” The tweet, which can be viewed below, has since been deleted.

Collett has described himself as a “Nazi sympathizer,” expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler, and was the focus of a documentary called “Young, Nazi and Proud.”

King’s office reportedly did not reply to a request for comment from HuffPost on his views regarding neo-Nazis and white nationalism.

Social media users were quick to decry King for retweeting Collett, and the Iowa congressman has since been described as a “racist,” “Nazi sympathizer,” and “literal Nazi promoter.”

King drew similar ire in December after tweeting that diversity is not America’s “strength.”

“Assimilation has become a dirty word to the multiculturalist Left. Assimilation, not diversity, is our American strength,” King tweeted at the time.

Moreover, in March 2017 King was widely criticized after he tweeted support for the far-right Dutch politician Geert Wilders, stating, “Wilders understands that culture and demographics are our destiny,” King said. “We can’t restore our civilization with somebody else’s babies.”

After the backlash over his support for Wilders last March, King told CNN he meant “exactly” what he said.

King is known for his staunch conservative viewpoints, especially his hardline stance on immigration. But the ways in which he has publicized his perspectives have often left him isolated and has induced criticism from members of both parties.
