Two people are in custody and a gun has been recovered after a person was shot on a Jersey City street this morning, according to police at the scene and police radio transmissions.

Two people are in custody and a gun has been recovered after a person was shot on a Jersey City street this morning, according to police at the scene and police radio transmissions.

A person was shot on Chestnut Street, between Pavonia and Newark avenues near Dickinson High School, at roughly 11 a.m., according to police radio transmissions.

A police officer investigating the shooting at St. Pauls and Tonnelle avenues a short time later was struck by the car allegedly used in the drive-by shooting, police said in radio transmissions.

Joe Shine, a freelance photographer for The Jersey Journal, was at the scene at 50 Dey St., at noon when two people were taken into custody by police and a gun was recovered.
