A WestJet plane bound for Vancouver made an abrupt return to the Calgary airport Thursday morning after crews responded to a fire indication light in the cargo hold.
The airline said the light came on shortly after departure. The crew declared an emergency landing before turning back to Calgary and landing normally.
The plane has been removed from service for inspection and the incident is under investigation by the Transportation Safety Board.
Guests and crew are safe and passengers were rebooked onto a new flight within an hour, a WestJet spokesperson said.
