The man was submerged up to his neck, the Trenton Fire Department said

Firefighters pulled an elderly man from the Delaware River off Trenton on Thursday morning.

The man was submerged up to his neck when firefighters loaded him into a boat around 11 a.m after finding him in the area of Sanhican Drive, according to the Trenton Fire Department.

“He was in a dire situation,” Capt. Jonathan Little said.

‘Please, please, please stay off the (Delaware) river’

When the firefighters turned the man over to EMS worker, he was conscious and alert, Little said.

Rescuers launched from the Morrisville, Pennsylvania side of the river. The Trenton Fire Department was assisted by Hamilton as well Bucks County firefighters.
