Five teams and a dog team are searching for Ryan Albert in the Longs Peak area of the Rocky Mountains, where he went missing last week.

Search efforts are back on for the missing 30-year-old Marlton man who didn’t return from a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, a day after the search was temporarily suspended for weather.

Five crews and a dog team are searching for Ryan Albert in the Longs Peak area of the Rockies on Thursday, National Park Service spokeswoman Lindsey Lewis said.

It’s been a week since Albert was last seen, and no clues have been found since the search began Saturday.

The 27 searchers are focusing on high-probability areas below tree line, she said. Due to the winter weather — up to a foot of snow expected through Friday — teams will not be sent to climb the mountain, she noted.

The search for Albert, a senior at Rowan University, was put on pause Wednesday due to snow and icy conditions, which continue to hinder the efforts, despite a clear forecast Thursday.

“The snow is a meter deep,” Lewis said. “It’s four square miles with incredibly rugged terrain, on a mountain. It’s a pretty extreme searching area, but they’re still actively searching.”

Longs Peak rises more than 14,000 feet in the national park, and sees thousands of hikers each year, though this is the most dangerous time of year to be out on the trail, according to the National Park Service website.

Park rangers ask anyone who has been in the Longs Peak area since Thursday or had contact with Albert regarding his planned route on Longs Park to call (970) 586-1204.
