According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Major League Soccer will be awarding St. Louis a team in the future. An official announcement is expected to be on Tuesday.
The post said they were made aware of the plans, but their sources have asked for anonymity because nothing has been officially announced yet. Their story also said MLS and the ownership group declined comment.

The city has had a campaign “MLS 4 the Lou” ongoing. The Post-Dispatch story also said that the ownership made a pitch to the Board of Owners during the All-Star Game recently.
The ownership group includes the Taylor family, who started the Enterprise Rent-A-Car franchise. In addition, it also includes Jim Kavanaugh, who is the CEO of World Wide Technology.
Kavanaugh is also the CEO of Saint Louis FC, which competes in the USL. This team was launched five years ago on May 1st, 2014.
He is also part of the St. Louis Blues ownership group.
