An arrest has been made in connection to a New Year’s Day shooting that killed two people and wounded two other victims in a Lower Downtown Bar.

Levi Floyd Diecidue, 22, was arrested on Thursday as a suspect in the double homicide at 1919 Blake Street, police said in a news release. Diecidue was taken into custody in the 500 Block of Emporia Street in Aurora. He is being held for investigation of first-degree murder, first-degree murder with extreme indifference and first-degree assault. No other parties are being sought in the incident.

Devonte Phillips, 24, and Hiyaw Zewdie, 29, were killed in the shooting at The Cabin Tap House. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The Cabin is owned by Valentes Corleons, who also owns the business next door, Beta Nightclub, at 1909 Blake St.

Denver officials on Jan. 5 permanently shut down Beta Nightclub after finding it violated multiple laws by hiring unlicensed security guards, allowing people to drink after hours and creating an atmosphere where fighting was common. City officials and police began to focus on the club after a series of shootings on its LoDo block. Police tied at least one of the shootings to the club.

The license of the Cabin Tap House has been suspended after the New Year’s Day shooting.

The Aurora Police Department, Denver Police Fugitive Unit, Denver Violent Criminal Enterprise Task Force, and Denver Special Operations Response Team, took Diecidue into custody.
