Wailers kick off Music in the Park

Three legends of reggae and ska music will kick off the 2022 season of First Tech Music in the Park in downtown San Jose’s Plaza de César Chávez on June 17. The triple bill features three of Jamaica’s most influential bands.

The Legendary Wailers headline, sharing the bill with Jamaican reggae-fusion band Third Worldand ska pioneers The Skatalites. Local reggae and soul DJ Marcus “Nappy” Adams will mix it up between sets.

Fronted by Julian Junior Marvin, who toured worldwide with Bob Marley at the height of his success, the Legendary Wailers play and sing hit songs by Bob Marley and the Wailers in the traditional style.

ALMADEN>>Leland High School’s quiz bowl team competed May 28-29 at the 2022 High School National Championship Tournament, held at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.

Leland was among 272 of the top high school quiz bowl teams from 34 states and one of 21 California teams at the competition. The team finished the preliminary rounds with a 5-5 record. Leland’s shot at the playoffs ended when they lost to William Fremd B from Palatine, Illinois in round 16.
The tournament champion was from Detroit Catholic Central High School of Novi, Mich.
Leland’s team was captained by Aarush Zarabi, who was joined by Adrian Tomaszewski, Kyan Wang, and Joshua Yan.  The team was coached by Rob Miller, who were assisted by Aiguo Yan and Archana Zarabi.
