Denver’s weather will be warm to hot and dry over the next several days, with mostly clear and sunny skies before an approaching cold front brings a chance for precipitation in the middle of the upcoming week.

On Saturday in Denver there’s a 10% chance for showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service forecast. Skies will be partly sunny and the high temperature will top out near 83 degrees.

In the mountains on Saturday, isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected, especially north of Berthoud Pass, the weather service said. Some areas above timberline will see a dusting of snow. On the plains, afternoon and evening thunderstorms are in the forecast along and north of Interstate 76. The storms will be more windy than wet, with gusts up to 35 mph and little precipitation.

Overnight in Denver skies will be mostly cloudy before gradual clearing, the low temperature will be near 51 degrees, the weather service said.

Sunday in Denver will be warmer, with a high temp close to 89 degrees under sunny skies, according to the NWS. The area’s weather will heat up a bit more on Monday and Tuesday, with highs expected to be about 91 degrees and sunny skies prevailing. The short string of sunny, hot and dry days will elevate wildfire concerns in northeastern Colorado.

On Wednesday and Thursday a cold front will bring cooler weather and rain to the region, with scattered and widespread showers and storms expected on both days.
