A Twitter engineer who clashed with Elon Musk on Twitter said he found out he was fired from Musk’s tweet.
Eric Frohnhoefer had tweeted that Musk was “wrong” about how Twitter runs, and the two went back and forth.
Musk fired three engineers, including Frohnhoefer, for criticizing his tweets about running the company.
A Twitter software engineer who clashed with Elon Musk on Twitter told CNN he found out he was fired after his friend showed him Musks’s tweet that said “he’s fired.”
The engineer, Eric Frohnhoefer, said “no one even reached out to me from Twitter,” about the termination.
He clashed with Musk on Monday before the Twitter owner said in a now-deleted tweet that Frohnhoefer was fired. A few hours later, Frohnhoefer tweeted, “Guess it is official now.” with a photo of his Mac being locked.

What sparked the spat: Musk tweeted an apology “for Twitter being super slow in many countries,” to which Frohnhoefer, who said he had spent around six years working on Twitter for Android, replied that Musk was “wrong.”
Musk replied to Frohnhoefer, asking him to “please correct me. What is the right number?” and following with another reply that said, “Twitter is super slow on Android. What have you done to fix that?”
In a series of now-deleted tweets, Frohnhoefer replied to Musk saying “we have done a bunch of work to improve performance,” and that there’s “plenty of room for improvements.”
Frohnhoefer said in a CNN interview Monday night after his firing that he had been “willing to give” working under Musk’s leadership “a try” and was in the “wait-and-see camp.”

Meanwhile, he told the news show that “everything that has been reported is true,” and that working at Twitter under Musk is a “total sh-t show.”
Neither Frohnhoefer nor Twitter immediately responded to Insider’s request for comment on the situation.
Frohnhoefer is one of three Twitter employees who said they were fired from the company within 24 hours of calling Musk out on Twitter, despite Musk being a self-described “a free speech absolutist.”
In a response to a tweet from @unusual_whales about Musk firing employees who had criticized him, Musk said, “I would like to apologize for firing these geniuses. Their immense talent will no doubt be of great use elsewhere.”
