Menlo School basketball player Ruiqi Liu is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week for Feb. 27 to Mar. 4 after she received 36.55% of the vote at the 5 p.m. deadline Wednesday.
Oakland Tech basketball player Jhai Johnson placed second with 31.76% of the vote and Harker lacrosse player Kyra Hawk finished third.
Liu, a sophomore guard, scored 36 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the two games. The Knights advanced to the NorCal Division IV final after victories over Hillsdale and Summit Shasta. Liu and the team came within three points of advancing to the state final.
