The latest winter storm to lash the Bay Area brought heavy rains overnight and into the morning, leaving roads flooded and trees leveled. Power outages also were reported across the region.
Inland communities received wind gusts around 35 to 45 miles per hour, while they were as high as 65 to 75 mph in upper elevation areas.
As of noon Friday, the National Weather Service recorded 24-hour Bay Area rainfall totals that topped 5½ inches in Ben Lomond in the Santa Cruz Mountains; 4½ inches in Kentfield in Marin County; 3¾ inches in Richmond; 2¼ inches in downtown Oakland; and 1¾ inches in Castro Valley. In San Jose, 1 inch of rain was measured.
While the latest storm appears to be petering out, another one is right around the corner. Forecasters say another atmospheric river is likely to land Monday night and continue into Tuesday morning.
